7 Easy Ways to Get Rid of Vaper’s Tongue

Vaper’s tongue is a common, yet unfortunate, occurrence. If you’ve been using a disposable with the same flavour for a few weeks without variation, vaper’s tongue will typically develop. 


If your favourite flavour no longer carries taste, begins to taste different or your tongue goes numb, you can be confident you have vaper’s tongue. While this sensation can go away on its own in roughly a few weeks, these easy tips can nick the issue in the bud. 


  1. Drink water. We’re advised left and right to drink plenty of water for our health, however, upping your water intake can relieve the effects of dry mouth which will elongate vapers tongue in the long run. As a general rule of thumb, drinking water will help get the best taste out of your e-liquid, vaper’s tongue or not.
  2. Suck on a lemon. Similar to how smelling coffee can refresh the nose after testing multiple scents, citrus will refresh your palette. If you dislike the sourness of lemon, try one of our lemon blended vape juices as an alternative.
  3. Try a menthol flavoured e-liquid. If you don’t like lemon to any capacity, menthol can neutralise your taste receptors instead. Menthol is usually recommended to be included in your flavour rotation as a neutral option amongst any sweet or fruity flavours, however, it also works as a reset button for your tongue. If menthol alone doesn’t excite you, we offer menthol blends which will still get the job done. 
  4. Lower your caffeine and alcohol intake. We apologise in advance for suggesting you skip out on your morning coffee. Unfortunately, caffeine and alcohol can lead to or worsen dry mouth, which will only make your vaper’s tongue more likely to turn up. Anything that will increase dehydration is the enemy here. Luckily, you would only have to go a day or two with less of these beverages to reverse vaper’s tongue.
  5. Brush your teeth. Specifically, brush your tongue well. Removing the film off your tongue with a tongue scraper or swishing around mouthwash can further aid in maintaining as clean a mouth as possible.
  6. Stop smoking cigarettes. Cigarettes affect your ability to fully taste flavours. If you’ve recently switched from vaping to smoking, it may take some time for you to truly enjoy flavours in general. Committing to the switch will improve both your health and satisfaction with your favourite flavours.
  7. Switch up your e-liquid flavour. The fastest way to get rid of vaper’s tongue is to switch things up. At a minimum, if you keep switching your e-liquid flavours, you should be able to avoid vaper’s tongue. We recommend having three different kinds of flavours in your rotation ranging from sweet, fruity and neutral.
